Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (HKICL) has warned the public of two distinct types of fraudulent websites impersonating the institution, as cybercriminals intensify efforts to steal financial and personal data from users. The alert, issued on September 24, 2026, details phishing schemes designed to compromise both payment credentials and login information through deceptive online portals and social engineering tactics.

  • Fraudulent Website Type 1: Impersonates an online payment portal to harvest credit card details, including cardholder name, card number, expiration date, and security code
  • Fraudulent Website Type 2: Tricks users into disclosing login credentials and directs victims to WhatsApp chats with fraudsters posing as customer service representatives
  • Official HKICL Websites: https://www.hkicl.com.hk and https://fps.hkicl.com.hk
  • Verification Contact: HKICL general line at 2533 1111

HKICL emphasized that the fraudulent websites have no affiliation with the organization or any of its business operations. The clearing house stated it does not directly provide Faster Payment System (FPS) services to individual members of the public, nor does it typically contact consumers proactively. Type 2 fraudulent websites may use multiple URL variations to evade detection, making identification challenging for unsuspecting users.

The institution urges the public to remain vigilant against suspicious calls, websites, and communications claiming to originate from HKICL. Consumers who receive questionable communications purporting to be from the clearing house should verify authenticity by calling the official general line. Members of the public who believe they have fallen victim to fraud are advised to report the incident promptly to Hong Kong Police.
