BNY Mellon and Galaxy Digital announced a strategic collaboration to integrate staking capabilities into BNY’s Digital Asset Custody platform, enabling institutional clients to earn rewards on eligible digital assets through a unified servicing model. The partnership combines Galaxy’s expertise in proof-of-stake networks with BNY’s institutional infrastructure, subject to regulatory review.

  • Assets under custody and administration: $62.6 trillion as of June 30, 2026
  • Integrated services offered: Custody, fund accounting, tax reporting, payments, and client reporting
  • Galaxy’s data center capacity: 1.6 GW Helios campus in Texas
  • BNY client reach: Over 90% of Fortune 100 companies and nearly all top 100 banks

The collaboration delivers staking within BNY’s broader institutional servicing framework, designed to streamline digital asset participation while maintaining the operational safeguards and asset protections clients expect from the legacy custodian. Carolyn Weinberg, Chief Product and Innovation Officer at BNY, emphasized the shift beyond basic safekeeping: “Clients want a broader set of capabilities delivered through an institutional-grade model.” Galaxy will serve as a design partner to enhance BNY’s broader digital asset platform infrastructure.

Galaxy Digital, a digital assets and data center infrastructure provider, positions the partnership as a critical evolution for institutional adoption. Steve Kurz, Global Co-Head of Digital Assets at Galaxy, noted that “the future of financial markets will be built on open, programmable rails,” with the collaboration bringing Galaxy’s institutional-grade infrastructure into a framework major institutions can trust. The arrangement reflects BNY’s strategy to expand digital asset capabilities while Galaxy strengthens its positioning in the custody market.

BNY Mellon, with $2.2 trillion in assets under management, serves over 90% of top 100 pension plans and has operated as a global financial services platform for over 240 years. Galaxy Digital Inc. (Nasdaq: GLXY) is headquartered in New York City with operations across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
