The Central Bank of Ireland has issued a formal warning against DAVY Unlimited (CLONE), an unauthorised firm impersonating a legitimate investment services provider to deceive consumers. The warning, published on September 4, 2026, identifies the fraudulent entity as operating without authorisation to provide investment services, investment business services, or crypto-asset services within the European Union.

The clone operation has adopted the name of J&E Davy Unlimited Company, trading as Davy, which holds valid authorisation from the Central Bank of Ireland under registration number C775. The fraudulent firm has been deliberately attempting to pass itself off as the legitimate entity to mislead investors and gain access to their funds or personal information.

The Central Bank emphasised that no connection exists between the authorised firm and the unauthorised clone. The warning carries the force of law, published under section 53 of the Central Bank (Supervision and Enforcement) Act 2013, making it a formal regulatory notice to the financial services industry and the public.

Consumers who suspect they have encountered the unauthorised firm or wish to report suspicious activity should contact the Central Bank at (01) 224 5800. The regulator has also directed the public to its financial scams information portal at www.centralbank.ie/financialscams for guidance on protecting themselves from similar fraud schemes.
