tastytrade launched support for Cboe Global Trading Hours on August 10, 2026, enabling retail traders to access index options trading nearly around the clock. The Chicago-based online brokerage now offers extended trading sessions for S&P 500 Index, Volatility Index, Mini-SPX, and Russell 2000 Index options, addressing demand from active traders seeking to capitalize on overnight market-moving events.

  • Trading Hours: 8:15 p.m. ET to 9:25 a.m. ET Sunday through Friday, plus 4:15 to 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday
  • Available Instruments: SPX, VIX, XSP, and RUT options
  • Recent Market Activity: GTH volume exceeded 4% of total SPX options volume, up from roughly 3% months earlier
  • Platform Features: Same order ticket and workflow across desktop and mobile with dedicated time-in-force options

The expansion targets event-driven trading strategies, particularly around economic releases and international developments that move U.S. markets before the opening bell. tastytrade customers already rank among the most active index options traders, with Mini-SPX maintaining top-10 platform status despite remaining outside the industry’s top 40 products overall.

Institutional traders have always had access to the overnight session, and we’re putting that same capability in the hands of the active retail traders who will actually use it.

The platform maintains consistency with its standard trading experience, featuring limit orders and dedicated time-in-force options labeled Global Hours and GTC Global Hours. tastylive, the company’s financial education network, will provide weekday morning coverage from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. CT, with additional programming and webinars planned.

tastytrade also announced preparations for single-stock options extended-session trading, targeting day-one availability to bring around-the-clock access to earnings season. The company cautions that extended-hours trading involves increased risks, including reduced liquidity, wider bid-ask spreads, and elevated volatility.
