Revolut has received formal authorisation as a Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) provider from the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) for its newly established entity, Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited (RGDAL). The licence marks a significant milestone in the fintech’s international cryptocurrency strategy and positions Gibraltar as a regulatory hub for the company’s expanding digital asset operations across key markets worldwide.
- Entity: Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited (RGDAL)
- Regulator: Gibraltar Financial Services Commission
- Existing crypto users: Over 16 million
- Total retail customers: More than 80 million worldwide
- Existing regulatory frameworks: UK (Revolut Ltd) and EEA under MiCA (Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd)
Gibraltar’s pioneering regulatory framework for digital assets provides Revolut with a stringent supervisory environment to serve its international customer base. The jurisdiction was among the first to establish dedicated oversight for DLT firms, offering the company a secure operational foundation as it builds out crypto services across new regions. RGDAL will complement Revolut‘s existing crypto offerings, which already operate under separate licences in the UK and across European Economic Area countries under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
Securing our DLT authorisation from the GFSC reflects our commitment to operating at the highest standards of regulatory compliance. Gibraltar’s pioneering oversight in the digital asset space makes it an ideal jurisdiction to support our global operational framework as we continue building trusted and secure crypto services for our international customer base.
– Emil Urmanshin, GM Crypto & New Bets, Revolut

Its decision to launch further crypto expansion from here is a testament to the strength, reputation, and global appeal of Gibraltar as a trusted hub for digital asset innovation.
– Fabian Picardo, Chief Minister of Gibraltar
Revolut stated that further details regarding target regions and service rollouts supported by RGDAL will be announced in due course. The company operates as a global fintech platform serving over 80 million retail customers, with more than 16 million users actively trading cryptocurrencies on its platform.
