UBS Asset Management has listed the UBS SMI Equal Weight ETF on SIX Swiss Exchange, marking the first product to track SIX‘s newly developed SMI Equal Weighted Index. The ETF gives investors exposure to Switzerland’s leading listed companies through an equal-weighting methodology that allocates equal weight to each constituent at every rebalance, reducing concentration risk compared with traditional market capitalization-weighted approaches.

  • New ETF products listed H1 2026: 168 new ETFs
  • Total ETFs tradable at mid-year: 2,244 products from 39 issuers
  • ETFs available via Quote on Demand: 8,200+
  • Index methodology: Equal-weighting of all SMI constituents at rebalancing

The launch underscores growing investor demand for alternative weighting methodologies beyond traditional market-cap benchmarks. By distributing equal weight across all constituents, the index provides broader exposure across Switzerland’s blue-chip companies while mitigating single-stock and sector concentration. The ETF trades on the SIX Swiss Exchange with intraday liquidity and is accessible through standard brokerage accounts.

We are delighted to launch this ETF based on the SMI Equal Weighted Index. The strategy offers investors a differentiated approach to Swiss equity exposure by reducing single stock and sector concentration and providing a more balanced representation of the market.

– Raimund Müller, Head ETF & Index Fund Sales Switzerland & Liechtenstein, UBS Asset Management

We are delighted that UBS has selected the SMI Equal Weighted Index as the basis for this new ETF. The launch reflects continued interest in alternative approaches to Swiss equity investing and further expands the range of investable products linked to SIX Indices.

– Dr. Christian Bahr, Head Index Services & ESG, Financial Information, SIX

The momentum reflects robust ETF market activity at SIX Swiss Exchange, where 168 new products launched in the first half of 2026 alone. The equal-weighted strategy complements traditional offerings and enables asset managers to develop differentiated Swiss equity products for self-guided investors seeking transparent, regulated access to the market’s leading companies.
