TradingView has introduced Options volume profile, a new technical indicator that displays traded call and put contract volumes directly on asset charts, enabling traders to identify where options market participants are positioned across strikes and expirations without switching between tools.

  • Display modes: Calls and puts (separate), Calls + puts (total), Calls – puts (difference), Puts/calls (ratio)
  • Configurable parameters: Maximum expirations (default 10), strikes around current price (default 10), grouping options
  • Compatible timeframes: Daily, weekly, and monthly; intraday intervals not supported
  • Key features: Volume wall detection for highest call and put volumes, in-the-money/out-of-the-money strike separation, customizable color schemes

The indicator plots each upcoming expiration as a separate profile aligned to its date on the time scale. Horizontal bars represent individual strikes, with blue denoting call volume and red indicating put volume. A dotted line marks the current price, instantly separating profitable from unprofitable strikes at a glance. Traders can read the exact volume combination for each strike in the format “calls × puts” displayed next to each bar.

The tool addresses a persistent friction point in options analysis: traders must typically monitor price action in one window and cross-reference options flow data in tables or separate panels. By embedding options volume context directly onto the underlying asset’s chart, TradingView reduces the need for multiple data sources. The indicator supports multiple reading modes; call and put volumes as separate bars, combined total volume, the differential between the two, or the put-to-call ratio at each strike, allowing traders to surface different market signals depending on their strategy.

Advanced configuration options enable both wide-angle scans and granular analysis. Traders can adjust the number of expirations displayed, expand the strike range to reveal deep out-of-the-money positions where structural hedges often cluster, and toggle volume wall labels to highlight the highest-activity strikes per expiration. Style settings allow full customization of colors, label placement, and which interface elements display. The indicator is available across TradingView‘s Supercharts platform for any underlying asset with listed options.
