TP ICAP has launched a dedicated gas trading desk in Perth, marking its entry into Western Australia’s domestic energy market. The Western Australia Gas Desk, now operational as of 3 August 2026, will provide brokerage services to producers, utilities, industrial users and traders across the region, addressing a gap in market liquidity and price transparency in Australia’s largest gas-producing state.

  • Location: Perth, Western Australia
  • Launch Date: 3 August 2026
  • Service Focus: Domestic gas market brokerage, liquidity provision, price discovery
  • Regional Expansion: Builds on TP ICAP’s established presence in eastern Australian gas markets

While Western Australia produces a significant share of Australia’s national gas supply, much of its output is exported or processed for liquefied natural gas, leaving the domestic market less intermediated. TP ICAP‘s new desk aims to enhance connectivity among market participants and improve risk management capabilities by providing better access to trading liquidity. The expansion represents a strategic move to strengthen the firm’s energy and commodities footprint across the Asia-Pacific region.

Western Australia is a critically important market with strong fundamentals and growing demand for transparency and efficient price formation. By establishing a dedicated desk in Perth, we are bringing global expertise and local presence together to support clients with improved access to liquidity and more effective risk management.

The Perth desk launch marks a key milestone in TP ICAP‘s broader energy and commodities growth strategy, which focuses on expanding its regional footprint, diversifying service offerings and supporting the development of transparent energy markets across APAC. The firm operates from more than 60 offices across 28 countries and provides broking, data analytics and market intelligence services to global financial and commodities markets.
