Transaction Network Services (TNS) has enhanced its payment orchestration platform with next-generation Android-based unattended terminals, enabling businesses to accept payments across multiple channels and geographies while reducing transaction costs and operational complexity. The expansion marks a significant shift in TNS’s strategy to bring its digital orchestration capabilities into physical retail and self-service environments.
- Target sectors: Parking, EV charging, transportation, vending, laundromats, and self-service kiosks
- Certification progress: Underway in Australia, UK, and US with additional markets planned
- Pre-programmed terminals: Come with TNS payment application and integrated PCI compliance management
- Supported payment methods: Traditional card schemes, digital payments, and alternative payment options
The pre-programmed terminals eliminate the need for operators to build custom payment applications, manage certification requirements, or handle PCI compliance burden independently. The platform enables businesses to configure payment routing based on business rules, card type, transaction amount, geography, channel type, and processor availability. This allows operators to optimize approval rates, manage costs, and maintain uptime across multiple payment providers without fragmenting their payment stack.
Commerce has gone omnichannel, but many payment stacks still operate one decision at a time: a new acquirer for a new market, another integration for a new channel, another tool to reconcile when payment methods expand.
Michael Johnson, Global Managing Director of TNS Payments Market, stated that performance signals such as decline rates and provider availability can influence routing decisions dynamically. TNS is currently working with early-adopter customers on the new terminal range, with the platform supporting payment methods from traditional card schemes through digital and alternative payment options available within the TNS ecosystem.
