Sumsub and AmericanFortress have partnered to introduce FortressID, a verified identity credential for cryptocurrency users that combines reusable identity verification with human-readable payment names. The integration launches when AmericanFortress’s Wallet and SDK reach production, offering users one complimentary Sumsub verification with every paid FortressName purchase, with 0G’s .0gm namespace serving as the first partner adoption. The solution addresses a longstanding friction point in crypto adoption: the need to reverify identity and share personal documents with multiple platforms.
- FortressName capability: Human-readable aliases such as @alice.0gm usable across 13 blockchains at launch
- Privacy control: Users select which counterparties see their FortressID, what information is shared, and when
- Verification included: One Sumsub verification at no additional cost with each paid FortressName; all wallets receive a free name at signup
- Data architecture: AmericanFortress maintains no central identity store, and identity details are not written to blockchain
The verified credential displays a badge on the receive screen and within FortressChat, AmericanFortress’s encrypted messaging application, confirming verification status without revealing underlying credential details. Once a verified user shares their FortressID with a counterparty, subsequent payments from that name can carry the proof. Users maintain granular control over disclosure, choosing between sharing specific blinded facts, such as age verification or residency, or revealing full identity documents. Critically, the system prevents linking a FortressName to its underlying wallet addresses, preserving user privacy while enabling compliance-grade verification.
Through FortressID, a single Sumsub verification becomes a decentralized digital credential users can carry with them, choosing who sees it and what it reveals. Reusable identity fixes a long-standing issue, where users reverify on new platforms and leave copies of their documents behind each time. Counterparties get assurance that the person on the other side has been properly checked, and the user doesn’t have to give up their privacy for it.

Crypto made it easy to move money and hard to know who you are dealing with. Until now the fix has been to hand your passport to every company that asks. We think your identity should sit with you, attached to the name you get paid at, and shown only to the people you choose. Sumsub gives that identity the standard a bank would accept. We make it yours.
