SIX‘s digital invoicing platform eBill has surpassed four million users, representing roughly half of Switzerland’s adult population, while the financial services infrastructure provider expands its capabilities with a new direct debit solution launching this year. The milestone reflects broadening adoption across age groups, with the 30-39 demographic representing the largest user base and those over 80 posting 20% growth in 2025.
- Total Users: Over 4 million (50% of Swiss adult population)
- Adoption Rate (20-64 years): 59% have activated eBill
- Financial Institution Participants: 110 banks offer eBill
- eBill Direct Debit Launch: Summer 2025 (replaces LSV+ and BDD by September 30, 2028)
- Planned Expansion: Mid-2027 introduction of Business Direct Debit and consumer-accessible features
The platform enables users to receive and pay invoices directly within e-banking environments across mobile and desktop devices. SIX emphasizes security advantages over email and paper-based methods, noting that sender verification occurs before delivery and invoices are processed within the secure online banking environment. The solution eliminates manual data entry, reducing errors while enabling automated recurring payments and eliminating printing, mailing, and physical archiving costs.
eBill Direct Debit, introduced in mid-2025, serves as the successor to legacy direct debit systems LSV+ and BDD. SIX positions the new solution as cost-effective and scalable, capable of processing large transaction volumes. A spring 2026 survey by gfs.bern involving over 1,000 Swiss respondents indicated that payment security is increasingly important to consumers, an area where eBill demonstrates competitive advantages through sender verification and secure delivery mechanisms.
Expansion plans include Business Direct Debit functionality by mid-2027 for processing high-volume business transactions, as well as access for consumers who do not use online banking. SIX will provide migration support from existing LSV+/BDD systems. The platform currently supports specialized use cases, including donation requests through eBill Donations and e-commerce invoice delivery via eBill E-Commerce.
