CMC Markets, a FTSE 250-listed financial services firm, has launched 24/5 US share trading on its CMC Invest platform, enabling UK clients to trade outside traditional market hours. The expansion, announced on 10 September 2026, combines extended market access with fractional investing capabilities, allowing investors to trade at any time during the five-day week while purchasing partial share quantities.
- Trading Hours: 24 hours a day, five days a week
- Commission: 0% on investing (other charges apply)
- Order Types Supported: All available order types, including market orders, during extended and overnight sessions
- Feature: Fractional shares available during extended trading sessions
The feature enables investors to respond to corporate earnings announcements, company news, and market movements beyond the standard US trading session. Fractional investing removes minimum investment barriers, allowing clients to deploy capital in amounts suited to their individual circumstances rather than full share purchases.
Bringing 24/5 trading and fractional investing together gives investors the freedom to respond when markets move and invest the amount that works for them. It’s a major step forward for CMC and another example of how we’re building a more flexible, modern investing experience.
– Lachlan Rourke-Davies, Senior Product Manager, CMC Markets
Laurence Booth, Global Head of Markets at CMC Markets, positioned the launch as part of a broader strategy to integrate the firm’s trading and investing capabilities. “US markets don’t stop moving when the core session closes, and now our clients don’t have to either,” he said, adding that the initiative reflects CMC’s ambition to provide greater flexibility across when, where, and how clients access financial markets.
CMC Markets is a multi-asset financial services provider listed on the FTSE 250, offering trading and investment products to retail and institutional clients globally.
