The Central Bank of Ireland has issued a public warning against Liffey Loans, an unauthorised firm operating an advanced fee fraud scheme targeting consumers seeking retail credit services. The warning, published on 20 August 2026, alerts the public that Liffey Loans is not authorised to provide credit services in Ireland and operates through cloned registration details of legitimate firms.

  • Website: https://liffeyloans.com/
  • Email addresses: info@liffeyloans.com, liffeyloans@pm.me
  • Phone numbers: 0833546524, 0862800307, 0831884377, 0899460081
  • Fraud type: Advanced fee fraud scheme

The scheme operates as an advanced fee fraud, where victims are solicited to pay upfront fees for credit services that are never delivered. The fraudsters behind Liffey Loans are cloning the registration numbers, director details, and company information of a legitimate firm authorised by the Central Bank, creating a credible appearance to deceive potential borrowers.

Consumers who have encountered Liffey Loans or suspect they have been targeted by the firm are urged to contact the Central Bank directly at (01) 224 5800 or report the unauthorised firm through official channels. The Central Bank has published the firm’s name under section 53 of the Central Bank (Supervision and Enforcement) Act 2013, a legal provision enabling public disclosure of unauthorised financial entities.

The Central Bank recommends that consumers seeking more information on protecting themselves from financial scams visit www.centralbank.ie/financialscams. The warning underscores the importance of verifying a firm’s authorisation status before engaging in any financial transactions or providing personal information.
