The Central Bank of Ireland has issued a public warning against an unauthorised firm impersonating Barclays Bank Ireland plc, operating under the names Barclays Private Bank and Barclays Ireland Limited (CLONE). The warning was published on 11 August 2026 as the regulator seeks to protect consumers from what it describes as a deliberate deception scheme designed to exploit the legitimate bank’s reputation and regulatory standing.

  • Fraudulent Websites: barclaysbankireland.com and barclays-ireland.com
  • Contact Email Addresses: peter.oconnor@barclaysbankireland.com, jeffreyflynn@barclays-ireland.com, jeffrey.flynn@barclayswealthmanagement.com, and others
  • Phone Numbers Used: +353 1 513 6113, +353 1 903 6182, +353 1 906 9384, +353 1 909 6384, and others
  • Authorisation Status: Not authorised to conduct banking, investment services, or investment business in Ireland

The unauthorised firm has cloned the name, address, and registration details of the legitimate Central Bank-authorised firm (C36964), creating a sophisticated impersonation designed to deceive potential customers. The regulator emphasises there is no connection whatsoever between the authorised Barclays Bank Ireland plc and this fraudulent operation. The clone has been actively seeking to present itself as the legitimate institution to gain consumer trust and access to funds.

The Central Bank of Ireland is publishing the firm’s details under section 53 of the Central Bank (Supervision and Enforcement) Act 2013. The regulator encourages individuals with information about such unauthorised operations to contact it directly at (01) 224 5800 or to file a report through its website. The central bank also maintains a financial scams resource page at www.centralbank.ie/financialscams to help consumers identify and protect themselves against similar fraudulent schemes.
