Alpaca and the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) signed an agreement on September 1, 2026, to explore cross-border market access between Indonesian and global capital markets. The memorandum of understanding, signed by Alpaca Co-Founder and CEO Yoshi Yokokawa and IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik in Jakarta, will leverage the Penyaluran Amanat Luar Negeri (PALN) mechanism to enable Indonesian securities brokers to offer their customers access to US and foreign securities through Alpaca’s brokerage infrastructure.
- Indonesia’s retail investor base: 30 million investors as of August 2026, the largest in ASEAN
- PALN framework: Mechanism enabling Indonesian brokers to facilitate overseas securities access
- Existing partnerships: Ajaib, Gotrade, Nanovest, PT Valbury Asia Futures, and Reku
- Alpaca regional leadership: Rohit Mulani (President of Southeast Asia), David Grant (CEO of Singapore)
The partnership aims to connect Indonesian retail investors with global investment opportunities through regulated brokers while exploring reciprocal access for international market participants to Indonesia’s capital markets. Alpaca’s API-based infrastructure enables financial institutions and fintech companies to integrate global market access into their platforms. IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik stated that the collaboration establishes a framework to explore pathways for exchange members to access global markets while examining opportunities for international brokers to reach Indonesia’s growing capital market.
The deal reflects Alpaca’s broader expansion strategy in Asia-Pacific, where the company has strengthened its regional footprint through local leadership appointments and infrastructure investments. Alpaca already operates with multiple Indonesian fintech and brokerage partners, positioning the IDX agreement as a milestone in deepening regional presence across Southeast Asia’s largest economy.
