eToro has launched Agent Portfolios, a beta feature that allows individual developers to connect their own artificial intelligence agents to dedicated trading sub-portfolios on the platform. The rollout marks the first time retail investors with AI-building skills can deploy autonomous trading strategies on a regulated brokerage without institutional infrastructure or significant capital barriers.

  • Minimum funding requirement: $200
  • Setup methods: Standard desktop setup or conversational AI-guided configuration
  • Core capabilities: Open positions, close positions, check balances, manage portfolio via scoped API key
  • Supported AI platforms: OpenClaw, Hermes Agent, Claude Code, and Cursor

The feature isolates AI-driven trading activity in a separate portfolio distinct from personal investments, granting users full control over capital allocation, agent selection, and operational boundaries. Users create a named portfolio, fund it with their chosen amount, and generate a scoped API credential to connect their agent. eToro describes setup taking under five minutes through either a standard desktop interface or a conversational prompt passed directly to an AI agent capable of executing commands.

Beta testers have already deployed strategies ranging from volatility-based rotation to thesis-driven concentrated positions. One developer connected an agent monitoring VIX levels that shifts to defensive positions when volatility exceeds 25 and re-enters equities when it falls below 20, all within a $1,000 portfolio. Others experiment with scheduled sector rebalancing and signal-reactive strategies tied to earnings releases, macroeconomic indicators, and sentiment data.

eToro emphasizes that Agent Portfolios require true autonomous agents capable of executing API calls, excluding sandboxed chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.ai. The company notes this launch represents an early phase of a broader vision to democratize algorithmic trading tools historically available only to hedge funds and institutional quants. eToro is a regulated online brokerage and social trading platform headquartered in Cyprus, offering stocks, cryptocurrencies, commodities, and other asset classes to retail and institutional clients.
