Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) has listed four exchange-traded funds tracking cross-market indices in late September, expanding its index business and reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as a gateway between Asian and international markets. The launches mark the first investment products based on three co-branded benchmarks developed with Bursa Malaysia Berhad and Korea Exchange (KRX), offering investors exposure to Malaysian equities, Asian semiconductors, and technology stocks across Hong Kong and the United States.

  • Bosera HKEX KRX Semiconductor Index ETF: Stock code 3516 (HKD), listed 24 September
  • Huatai-PCG HKEX KRX Semiconductor Index ETF: Stock code 3569 (HKD), listed 28 September
  • GF HKEX Tech & US Tech 100 Index ETF: Stock codes 3599 (HKD), 83599 (RMB), 41599 (USD), listed 28 September
  • Da Cheng Galaxy HKEX Bursa Malaysia Large Cap ETF: Stock code 3143 (HKD), listed 28 September

All three indices employ a 60/40 weighting structure, allocating approximately 60 percent to Hong Kong-listed securities and 40 percent to overseas holdings. This design framework positions the ETFs for potential eligibility under Southbound Stock Connect, enabling investors on the Chinese mainland to access diversified cross-border assets. The Bursa Malaysia index combines 30 leading companies from each market, while the semiconductor index brings together major chip-related firms from South Korea and Hong Kong.

We are delighted to welcome the first ETFs tracking HKEX’s cross-market index series. Their launch marks an important step in our efforts to connect Hong Kong with international markets by working with exchanges and partners across Asia and beyond to broaden investor choice.

We are pleased to welcome the listing of ETFs tracking the HKEX KRX Semiconductor Index, the first co-branded index between KRX and HKEX. This milestone demonstrates how exchanges can combine their expertise in market operations and index development to foster cross-market collaboration and support investors’ regional asset allocation.
