BaFin, Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority, has issued a consumer warning against two websites operating without authorisation and impersonating an established German firm. The regulator flagged praxisleasing.com and praxisleasing.org on September 25, 2026, after discovering the sites falsely claim affiliation with PraxisLeasing GmbH, a legitimate Neu-Ulm-based company that has no connection to either domain.

  • Warning Date: September 25, 2026
  • Fraudulent Domains: praxisleasing.com and praxisleasing.org
  • Legitimate Company: PraxisLeasing GmbH, Neu-Ulm
  • Regulatory Basis: Section 37(4) of the German Banking Act (KWG)

The unauthorised operators are offering financial services to consumers without the required regulatory approval. BaFin suspects deliberate identity fraud, as the websites falsely represent themselves as affiliated with the legitimate PraxisLeasing GmbH. The regulator has issued this warning under section 37(4) of Germany’s Banking Act, a provision designed to protect the public from unlicensed financial service providers.

BaFin, working alongside the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and state criminal police offices (Landeskriminalämter), urges consumers to exercise extreme caution before investing money online. The authorities recommend conducting thorough research before committing funds to identify potential fraud early. Consumers can access BaFin‘s current warnings about unauthorised companies and fraud-prevention guidance through the regulator’s website section on recognising financial fraud.

This warning reflects ongoing efforts by German financial regulators to combat internet-based financial fraud targeting retail investors across the country.
