Liquidnet introduced Meridian, a consolidated algorithmic execution suite designed to strengthen its institutional trading offering alongside its established block trading business. The platform, launched September 17, 2026, integrates the firm’s algorithms, liquidity access, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled execution tools into a single proposition targeting institutional investors globally.

  • Dark pool liquidity: Approximately $100 billion
  • External venue access: More than 166 lit and dark venues
  • Geographic reach: 56 countries
  • Trading benchmarks supported: Implementation Shortfall (IS), VWAP, POV, and MOC
  • Network size: More than 1,100 members

The suite combines Liquidnet’s proprietary algorithms with access to its dark pool and bilateral liquidity providers across its 56-country network. Meridian handles orders of all sizes and integrates transaction cost analysis, quantitative services, execution consulting, and AI tools to help clients evaluate performance and optimize trading outcomes.

Institutional investors need efficient access to liquidity, greater control over execution and the flexibility to navigate increasingly complex market structures. Meridian combines sophisticated algorithms, advanced analytics, differentiated liquidity and execution expertise to help clients achieve their trading objectives while maintaining the transparency and service they expect from Liquidnet.

Chris Jackson, Global Head of Equities, made that statement in the firm’s announcement. Liquidnet, a member of the TP ICAP Group, positioned Meridian as a strategic response to institutional demand for clearer algorithmic execution capabilities. The platform is available to members through EMS/OMS integrations, FIX connectivity, the Liquidnet App, and direct trading desk access, enabling the firm to compete more effectively for institutional algorithmic trading flow while leveraging its recognized strength in block trading.
