Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (HKICL) has issued a public alert regarding multiple fraudulent websites falsely claiming affiliation with the organization. The scam sites, discovered in September 2026, impersonate HKICL services and direct unsuspecting users to fraudsters posing as customer service representatives. The fake platforms offer services related to Faster Payment System (FPS) transactions, including buyer refunds, unauthorized transaction reporting, and transaction support.

  • Fraudulent Services Offered: Refund to buyer, unauthorized online transaction reporting, and online transaction support
  • Legitimate HKICL Websites: https://www.hkicl.com.hk and https://fps.hkicl.com.hk
  • Verification Contact: HKICL general line at 2533 1111
  • Alert Date: September 11, 2026

HKICL clarified that these fraudulent websites have no legitimate connection to the organization or its business operations. The authority emphasized that it does not directly provide FPS services to individual members of the public under normal circumstances, nor does it initiate unsolicited contact with customers.

The clearing house urged the public to exercise heightened caution regarding suspicious phone calls, websites, and communications claiming HKICL affiliation. Individuals who receive questionable communications purportedly from HKICL should verify authenticity by calling the organization’s general line at 2533 1111. Those who believe they have fallen victim to fraud are advised to file a report with Hong Kong Police immediately.

HKICL operates Hong Kong’s interbank clearing and settlement system, facilitating financial transactions among banks and other participants in the Hong Kong financial infrastructure.
