Mitrade EU Limited has secured voluntary surplus insurance coverage with Lloyd’s of London for eligible clients, expanding protections beyond the mandatory safeguards required by Cyprus financial regulators. The policy, effective September 1, 2026, covers eligible claims up to €1 million in aggregate should the broker become insolvent, with premiums paid entirely by Mitrade.
- Coverage limit: €1 million aggregate for eligible claims
- Insurer: Lloyd’s of London
- Regulator: CySEC (license CIF438/23)
- Effective date: September 1, 2026
- Exclusions: Trading losses and market-driven losses
- Cost to clients: None; automatic enrollment
The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) already mandates that licensed investment firms segregate client funds and contribute to the investor compensation fund. Mitrade EU‘s additional insurance complements these baseline requirements and operates automatically without requiring customer registration or additional fees.
Regulations establish minimum requirements; we decide how far we go beyond them for our customers. Our approach is to identify areas where we can protect clients and take measures to reduce associated risks. Transparency and security should not be marketing phrases but reflected in the safeguards a broker implements.
Timur Konsky, CEO of Mitrade EU, said the policy represents a tangible commitment to investor protection beyond regulatory minimums. The coverage excludes trading losses or losses caused by market movements, applying only to insolvency-related claims. Mitrade operates globally across multiple jurisdictions, serving over 7 million traders with CFD products spanning indices, forex, commodities, shares, and ETFs through licensed entities regulated by ASIC, CIMA, FSCA, FSC, and CMA.
Warning: CFDs are complex instruments carrying high leverage risk. Approximately 80% of retail investors lose money trading CFDs with this provider.
