BaFin, Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority, has issued a consumer warning against the website hsf-verwaltung(.)app, which the regulator suspects of offering unauthorized financial and investment services. The fraudulent operation claims affiliation with legitimate German firms but operates without the required regulatory approval to conduct banking or financial services in the country.
- Fraudulent Website: hsf-verwaltung(.)app
- Impersonated Company 1: HSF Vermögensverwaltung GmbH & Co. KG (Düsseldorf)
- Impersonated Company 2: HSF Verwaltungs GmbH (Nuremberg)
- Regulatory Basis: Section 37(4) of the German Banking Act (KWG)
The website operators falsely claim connections to HSF Vermögensverwaltung GmbH & Co. KG in Düsseldorf and HSF Verwaltungs GmbH in Nuremberg. Both legitimate companies have explicitly denied any association with the fraudulent site or its offerings. BaFin confirmed this represents a clear case of identity fraud designed to deceive consumers into believing they are dealing with authorized financial service providers.
Under German law, any entity conducting banking or financial services activities within the country must obtain authorization from BaFin. The regulator maintains a publicly accessible database where consumers can verify whether a company holds the necessary licenses. BaFin advises investors to consult this database before engaging with any financial service provider and to exercise extreme caution when investing online.
The warning was issued in coordination with the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and regional state criminal police offices. BaFin recommends consumers conduct thorough research before committing funds online and review the regulator’s fraud identification resources to recognize warning signs of financial fraud schemes.
