Spotware Systems has introduced cTrader CLI, a standalone desktop command-line application that enables traders to connect artificial intelligence tools directly to the trading platform and execute operations through natural-language commands without accessing the graphical interface. The application runs on traders’ own computers and supports trading, cBot execution, backtesting, optimization, and access to market and account data.
- Compatible AI Tools: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, and Gemini CLI
- Core Functions: Order management, position monitoring, price alerts, cBot execution, and strategy backtesting
- Target Users: Professional algorithmic traders and multi-account operators seeking hands-free automation
- cTrader User Base: Over 11 million traders and 300+ brokers and prop firms
The tool addresses the workflow needs of advanced traders who conduct backtests across multiple periods and parameters, optimize cBots through systematic testing of parameter combinations, and monitor strategies across multiple concurrent operations. cTrader CLI allows these tasks to run in the background through the command line, freeing the main cTrader application for charting, development, and visual analysis. AI agents can perform these operations using natural-language instructions, reducing manual input for recurring tasks.
Spotware positioned cTrader CLI as complementary to its Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers for AI-powered trading, launched in 2026. While MCP servers enable AI agents to interact directly with cTrader’s user interface for UI-based operations, cTrader CLI focuses on lightweight background tasks and command-line automation suited to different trader preferences.
The release expands cTrader’s appeal to technically sophisticated traders and provides brokers and prop firms with tools to serve clients with complex trading requirements. Sergey Borisov, Head of Product Development at Spotware, stated that the platform aims to keep pace with evolving trader expectations around algorithmic and AI-assisted trading. cTrader, launched in 2010, operates as an open trading platform supporting over 100 third-party integrations via APIs and plugins.
