TradingView has expanded its rectangle alert functionality to include Greater than and Less than conditions, enabling traders to monitor specific price boundaries within support and resistance zones. Previously, rectangle alerts only tracked whether price entered, exited, remained inside, or stayed outside designated zones. The new conditions allow traders to set alerts for when price holds above the upper boundary or remains capped below the lower boundary of a rectangle.

  • Greater than condition: Tracks when price is above the upper boundary of the rectangle
  • Less than condition: Tracks when price is below the lower boundary of the rectangle
  • Dynamic adjustment: Moving or resizing the rectangle automatically updates the alert level
  • Setup process: Draw rectangle, access alert menu from clock icon or right-click, select condition, configure frequency and notification method

The Greater than feature is designed for traders using rectangles to mark support zones, providing notification when price maintains its position above the support level. Conversely, the Less than condition suits traders monitoring resistance zones, alerting them when price remains confined below the resistance threshold. This distinction addresses a key limitation of the previous channel-based alerts, which only tracked whether price crossed the zone entirely rather than its position relative to specific boundaries.

A key advantage of the new functionality is the dynamic nature of the alerts. When traders adjust the rectangle by moving or resizing it, the alert level updates automatically, eliminating the need to manually recreate alerts after chart adjustments. Users can set notification frequency and delivery method according to their preferences before activating the alert.
