TradingView is implementing mandatory moderator approval for all Pine Script indicators and strategies published on its platform starting August 14, reversing its previous publish-first approach to address quality and safety concerns amid surging submission volumes. The trading platform will now review scripts before they appear in community feeds and search results, establishing three possible outcomes for published content.
- Implementation Date: August 14
- Publication Limits: Up to 5 new public scripts within 24 hours; 15 within 30 days
- Approval Outcomes: Suggested (with badge eligibility), Profile Only, or Hidden for Violations
- Visibility Change: Scripts remain accessible on user profiles and to followers immediately; community feed placement depends on review results
Under the new moderation structure, approved scripts receive a “Suggested” badge and appear on TradingView’s indicators and strategies pages, as well as in the Indicator & Strategy dialog on Supercharts. Scripts that violate publishing rules but pose no user risk remain visible only on creator profiles. Content flagged for serious violations, including spam, scams, fraud, and intellectual property breaches, will be hidden from public view except to moderators and the original publisher, with potential account suspension in repeat cases.
Users will experience minimal operational changes during publication, with scripts immediately visible in their profile Scripts tab and notifications sent to followers. The significant shift involves delayed community feed access pending review completion. TradingView acknowledged that review timelines lack transparency and depend on submission queue volume, with no status tracking available during the review period. The company stated that improving this transparency is a development priority.
The platform indicated this represents an initial phase of broader changes to script publishing and its social ecosystem. TradingView, which hosts charting tools and trading strategy development for retail and professional traders, did not specify a timeline for additional updates.
