ThinkMarkets has launched WEEKEND_STORM, a new synthetic index designed to serve traders during weekend hours when traditional markets are closed. The index is now live on ThinkTrader and MT5 platforms, marking the fifth addition to the broker’s synthetic indices family.

  • Product Features: Algorithm-generated instrument with no links to real markets; operates 24/7 without economic releases, earnings seasons, or central bank surprises
  • Trading Characteristics: Quieter volatility during weekdays, increasing volatility at weekends
  • Pricing Structure: USD-denominated; spread only with no commission; lot sizes from 0.1 to 100; dynamic leverage up to 1:2500
  • Synthetic Index Family: Joins Volatility, Crash, Boom, and Jump indices

Synthetic indices are algorithm-generated instruments independent of real-world market events. They operate continuously, providing liquidity on weekend afternoons when equity, forex, and commodity markets have ceased trading. Each synthetic family offers distinct behavioral characteristics tailored to different trading strategies.

The existing synthetic index lineup includes Volatility (50/75/100), which maintains continuous movement at predetermined volatility levels; Crash (300/600/1000), characterized by steady drift with periodic downward spikes; Boom (300/600/1000), featuring upward spikes interspersed with steady movement; and Jump (50/75/100), which produces sudden directional moves approximately every 20 minutes. WEEKEND_STORM completes the range with its weekend-weighted volatility profile.

Traders can access WEEKEND_STORM by searching the index on ThinkTrader or locating it in the Market Watch window on MT5. ThinkMarkets is a multi-asset broker offering forex, commodities, indices, and cryptocurrencies to retail and institutional clients.
