StoneX Group Inc. has entered a strategic partnership with Shinhan Bank, one of South Korea’s largest lenders, to expand institutional cross-border payment and foreign exchange services across emerging markets. The agreement, effective immediately, grants Shinhan access to StoneX Payments’ proprietary platform and network of over 385 banks worldwide, enabling the South Korean lender to serve its approximately 29 million customers with enhanced payment capabilities in frontier markets.

  • Coverage: 140+ currencies across 180 countries
  • Bank Network: 385+ banks globally
  • Integration Timeline: Phased rollout beginning immediately
  • StoneX Presence: 20 years of operations in Asia

The collaboration addresses accelerating demand for efficient access to Latin American, Middle Eastern, and African payment corridors from Asia-Pacific clients. Shinhan Bank customers, including global importers, exporters, multinational corporations, and non-profit organizations, will gain access to institutional-grade FX execution, local currency settlement, and real-time transaction transparency. The partnership allows clients to navigate thinly traded currency corridors that traditionally required multiple intermediaries, reducing transaction costs and settlement times.

StoneX Payments offers something genuinely different: the depth of a comprehensive and time-tested global infrastructure combined with the technology and agility our clients’ demand. This partnership positions Shinhan Bank at the forefront of next-generation cross-border financial services, enabling us to serve our customers wherever they operate in the world.

Thiago Vieira, Global Head of StoneX Payments, described the partnership as a landmark moment for the company’s Asia expansion strategy. Shinhan Bank, a cornerstone of South Korea’s financial system, integrates with StoneX’s infrastructure to deliver comprehensive cross-border solutions combining institutional-grade execution, emerging-market expertise, and transparent pricing. Full integration is expected to occur in phases, with customers gaining access to an expanding suite of capabilities throughout the rollout period.
