ActivTrades PLC, the UK-based financial markets broker, swung to a profit in 2024 as revenue jumped 36% year-over-year, according to its annual report filed with Companies House.
The FCA-regulated broker reported turnover of £37.6 million for the year ended Dec. 31, 2024, up from £27.5 million in the prior year. The company posted a profit before tax of £4.6 million, reversing a loss of £7.9 million recorded in 2023.
After-tax profit reached £4.1 million compared with a loss of £6.7 million in the previous financial year. The turnaround came despite administrative expenses declining to £31.9 million from £35.3 million.
Trading gains and losses, the company’s core revenue stream, increased to £36.5 million from £26.2 million, while interest income fell to £1.1 million from £1.4 million.
Client money held at year-end totaled £24.3 million, down from £48.7 million in 2023. The average headcount for the group rose to 260 employees from 272, with the UK-based company employing 150 staff compared with 174 in the prior year.
ActivTrades specializes in online trading of contracts for difference and spread betting across forex, indices, commodities and equities. The company operates through subsidiaries in the Bahamas, Luxembourg, Brazil and Portugal.
Subsequent to the reporting date, ActivTrades PLC completed the sale of its shareholding in ActivTrades Corp to ActivTrades Group Limited, a Guernsey-incorporated entity, as part of a group restructuring in January 2025. Interim dividends of £836,830 were paid in March 2025.
